Mix & Match
I learned the art of mixing and matching bikini tops and bottoms at the young age of about 14. Down the street from our vacation home in Gulf Stream, Fla. there was this local surf shop. The name obviously escapes me … which is just another indication of my age (UGH). Anyway, my sisters and I would go in there and load up on suits. All the suits were sold as separates. At the time … it wasn’t the norm, but we thought it was cool since all the surfers were doing it. It was a trend that had not yet hit Westchester, New York and we knew we would lead the pack. It was the first place I remember seeing brands like Body Glove – such an 80’s brand & completely glorious.
How To Pull It Off
I rarely wear a suit that is made as a match set. I buy a bunch of different ones that I can mix and match together. What you’re looking to do is buy one or two patterns that work together. Then you can pop in solids that mix well. You can make ten suits out of five … never having to wear the same one twice on a vacation – MAJOR BONUS!!!
Have Fun With It
Look, bathing suit shopping is never fun … for any of us! Just try to make sense of the suits you’re buying for the season and, ultimately, you will get so much more out of them!! Don’t forget to factor in the perfect one or two cover-ups that will blend with all of them.
Have a great one Girls!!!! XOXO!!!
