Make a beautiful bed.
The sheets should obviously be freshly laundered, and the bed made up properly. As seen above and below.
Put a fresh towel set in the bathroom. It’s best if all the towels match and you don’t give the guest different towels with different patterns etc. – like you just grabbed them from the linen closet. You should have two bath towels, two hand towels and two face cloths (if possible).
I like to fill the bathroom with possible things they may need during their trip. So I buy shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste, a razor, soap, body wash, body lotion, hair spray, dry shampoo, mouth wash and I put a hair dryer in the bathroom as well.
Remove Personal Items
Since we usually use our girls’ room when guests come (they are away at college) I remove their personal items. Things like their photos, memoirs, knick knacks etc … all go in the closet while the guest is here. I want the guest to feel like it is his/her space. It should have a clean slate feel. That way the person can escape as if they are in a hotel.
Add Fresh Flowers
It’s always nice to add some fresh flowers to the bedside table. It makes them feel special and thought of.
It can actually be so much fun preparing for a guest. I love it!
